3 D Modeling – Recreating the System You Are Working With

3D Modeling, means three dimensional modeling, or recreating in the computer an accurate model of the system in question.  We find here at Prototype Industries that having a good portion of the model in the computer helps get the parts correct the first time.

Very often all we have are napkin sketches of the concept.  While that is fine conceptually, getting the design in hand is a bit more…  It involves being able to see the system in question work, and sometimes when this happens, better solutions are shown or made in this modeling phase.

We, at Prototype Industries, are firm believers in system modeling and do that quite often to get parts to work properly in the setting they are made for.  If you read on the  3-D Print page, you will see that we integrate the technology of 3D printing with fixturing.  This, too, is a system – making the parts.  How to make parts is something we model routinely.

We have a wide range of capabilities including modeling, assembly, load analysis, and part stress analysis.

Below is an example of a V-8 engine that was being developed for a go-kart.  The concept being that of a simple V-8 engine that would give the feel of a small automobile and the thrill of a high powered machine.

Here are the prototype block and pan castings for the V-8.
